What's In Our Dam?? Print E-mail
Written by City of Corunna

Arguably, the best "lead" the FBI has had in over 30 years!

The Corunna Mill Pond Dam was purchased by the City of Corunna in the late 1970's for the mere cost of $15,000 from a party far too eager to be rid of his prize real estate...

Just a a few years prior to the sale/gift, in the August 1975 time frame, the previous owner had performed concrete repairs to the structure.  This recently repaired structure was eagerly accepted by the Corunna City Council.

Over the past several decades, serious deterioration has occured, contributed primarily to the decomposition of biological matter inside the Dam's infrastructure.

The time frame of the repairs, and this recent photo have led the City of Corunna to believe that former teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa may have been interned in the structure.

Below is a "close up" of the photo above, showing what many believe to be the likeness of Jimmy Hoffa appearing in the falls of the water.  He appears to be a "crying out" to be freed from his watery tomb.

The City of Corunna has agreed to provide the FBI whatever assistance and cooperation is necessary.  Although historic, permission has been granted for the FBI to destroy the existing structure in their search efforts.  The city has asked only that the FBI, at the completion of their search, construct a new dam on this same site.  City officials estimate that this search can be performed for under two million dollars.

It is not expected that this amount of money would make so much as a nick in the federal budget, although the FBI may experience considerable difficulty in obtaining the necessary permits from the State of Michigan.
